Note from Diane: I have created a webpage dedicated to the recovery of anyone and everyone affected, in any way, by the horrific events of Sept. 11, 2001. The webpage is for anyone who has anything to say or if you know of other webpages you can tell me about that I can add links to, donation sites that I might not know of, etc. It is my fervent desire that visitors of this page (as well as myself) will find some modicum of peace to help them through these unbearable times. Sincerely, Diane

United We Stand

Thank you to all of you who have already sent me your feelings and words for posting, the links you have sent me, and all the encouraging emails. I couldn't do it without you guys. Di-

    Insurance and Bonding
    ##############################################

    Southern California Insurance Brokerage, Inc. (SCIB) is not only our insurance agent for both C and D Acoustics and TheContractorsGroup.com, they have become our friends. SCIB was my first advertiser and my first renewal! They have supported me and our website since day one. On the construction side, the speed with which they issue our certificates is terrific, and every certificate has been issued correctly the first time! How many times have you had to ask your insurance agent to redo a certificate for you? When using insurance companies I had prior to SCIB, obtaining accurate certificates on a timely basis was a problem, but since I have signed with SCIB, our problems with paperwork have become non-existent. Please contact SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA INSURANCE BROKERAGE, INC. for your insurance and bonding needs. If you would like one of their business cards to put in your business card file, please click here for a printable SCIB business e*card (it actually prints in the size of a standard business card!). Then you will have their information when you are ready to purchase your next insurance policy and/or bond! While you are viewing their business e*card online, you will have the option of clicking through to visit their website and/or you will be able to send them an email directly from their e*card. Tell 'em I said hi!

    5. Contractor's Corner
    ##########################################

    Send me your questions to be featured in Contractor's Corner!

    This month, from Chris Conlee:

    The California State License Board newsletter (California Licensed Contractor Issue Summer 2001) says that a law passed last year (SB2029) will require contractors to provide a Commercial General Liability Insurance information sheet and a consumer checklist to all homeowner clients with every estimate and contract, beginning October 1, 2001. Can't find out anything about this at their website. Are you familiar with this requirement?

    Thank you Chris for sending me your question! I contacted the CSLB and I received the following response from Ellen:

    =====
    Thanks for your message. The two SB 2029 notices were created by regulation. The regulatory process is complicated. The notices are still winding their way through the process. I think they go to the Office of Administrative Law this week. If OAL doesn't have a problem with them they should be filed with the Secretary of State's Office about 30 days from now. All contractors performing home improvement will be required to provide these notices 3 months from the day the notices are filed with the Secretary of State. I will post them on my website when they are approved.
    =====

    Thank you Ellen! To all my readers: I will try to keep you updated and once the forms are available, I will post them at my site.

    ##########################################

    ** Hey to all of you outside of California! How are you?? I really want to be able to address your needs and concerns. I would greatly appreciate any assistance from anyone who would like to provide me with forms that I can create online and/or news items and/or changed laws and regulations, etc. If I am able to use something that you provide me, I will be happy to credit you and/or your company and provide you with some free advertising in return. That goes for contractors within California too! There is no way I could ever cover anything and everything that might be going on at any given time, but with your help I can make a difference (oh how corny!), together I can keep all contractors informed (there, that's better). :)
